Hamilton Happenings

This past Sunday Mckenzie had her baby blessing.  It was a great weekend because the Hamilton's and my mom came to visit.  On Saturday we went to an activity called Touch a Truck.  Is was next to the BSU stadium and the parking lot was filled with all sorts of trucks.  The kids got to sit in the trucks, honk horns, and got lots of free things like stickers and fireman hats.  The kids loved it!  Then we all went to Chick fil-a for lunch! Yum! Sunday was the blessing day.  Mckenzie looked adorable in her white dress.  I even made her a headband to match and perfectly fit her (large) head. ;)  Things I remember from Justin's blessing was that Mckenzie would serve a full-time mission, get married in the temple, have a family, and always have a sweet spirit.  After church that day we had everyone over for a yummy brat dinner with pasta salad, spinach salad, and brownie sundays for dessert.   Blessing dress ...

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

One of my current jobs is working at OpenBook. I've been there for a little over 2 years. Recently they've been shaking things up at the company and let go everyone in the Sales department - except for me. There are a lot of allegations as for the real reason they did this, but those aren't really my concern. The COO and I have talked numerous times and he has stated that he would like to create a position for me within the company. Other department leaders have said that I could have nearly any position I wanted within the company. It's been pretty gratifying knowing that your company recognizes your value. But others have also been noticing. Just last week, I received 2 calls out of the blue from people interested in recruiting me to work for them. One of the positions I wasn't interested in, but the other one wouldn't be too different than a lot of my tasks at OpenBook - just a different industry & about twice the compensation. So Melissa and I have spent some extra time at the hospital this last week. We discovered that Melissa had something extra growing inside of her -> not twins, but rather her right kidney. Guess they actually call it  hydronephrosis.   Basically it means that something is blocking her ureter and the kidney has swollen a bit. It's actually a pretty painful process. The liquid that is now inside of the kidney (future urine) is blocked and can't come out. Kidney stones is one of the first suspected culprits. After a few ultrasounds the blame was passed onto the uterus. The baby is already turning out to be a pain in its mom's side! So that means that the uterus is sitting on the ureter or in some way blocking the flow of it. One of the few options available is to have a stent put in.
