February Survival Mode

You'll notice that I do no have many pictures to document the month of February.  That is because I was about 10 weeks pregnant and very much just trying to get through the day.  My mom came to visit the end of January and we also got to celebrate her birthday (Feb 5th).  She helped with dinner, kids, and cleaning.  And we can't forget her infamous last day when Jett consumed a lot of dark chocolate and I had to take him to the vet.  More of that below.

This was after one of my OB appts.  I went to Jamba Juice because being nauseous all day long sucks and smoothies at least taste good.  You know, treat yo self!

If you look closely you can see Jett's head popping out of the blanket.  This was the bed that Mckenzie made for him after he came home from spending the night at the animal hospital.  Isaac accidentally shared dark chocolate with Jett (a lot of it).  I took Jett to the vet while my mom took Lyft to the airport.  I had a babysitter come for the kids at home.  Jett was alright in the end but it was a good thing I took him in.  Otherwise we might be looking for a new dog right now.

One day, while I was doing my usual surviving from the couch, Isaac came downstairs in Mckenzie's pj's.  Apparently they had been playing bedtime and Isaac let Mckenzie dress him for the occasion.  I'm glad they can play well together.

This was Feb 14th, Channing's first Valentine's Day at school.  And it was also his class picture day.  He's getting so grown up!

One Saturday I took Channing with me to run some errands.  As mentioned earlier I was craving cold, fruit smoothies.  So we went to Dutch Bros and Channing was so excited to get his own!

Then we went to the mall, I don't remember what for, and ended up splitting a cinnamon roll.  Channing loved the attention.  When I told him we were going to the mall he said, "What's a mall?" Haha! I guess I've never taken my kids to a mall before.
Well that was the month of February.  I'm glad we made it through! Pregnancy nausea and fatigue is not for wimps.  I'm super grateful that my mom came to visit and helped me.  I'm also so glad that Justin seriously stepped up and starting doing everything I normal do.  It takes a village to survive a pregnancy!

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

60 Things I Love About My Mom

In honor of my mom turning 60 years old on February 5th I have written 60 things that I love about her. 1. My mom lives the gospel. 2. She taught me how to follow the prophet. 3. My mom loves to travel. 4. With each baby I had she took the time to be there.  And then stayed for at least a week following the birth to help me at home.  She even brought be breakfast in bed. 5. My mom always fulfills her calling.  I remember when she was Relief Society President she was gone on my 15th birthday at an Enrichment meeting.  I was a bit peeved about it.  But now when I think about it I am inspired by her ability to 100% fulfill her calling and show up for her fellow RS sisters. 6. She taught me how to cook.  We always had a vegetable on the plate. 7. She thoroughly adores her grandkids. 8. My mom can do hard things. 9. My mom is a RN which is no easy job.  I know her job is often stressful.  She's an amazing labor and delivery nurs...
