Channing’s First Day

Last Thursday Channing had his first day of 1st grade.  This is a huge transition because in kindergarten he went in the afternoon for about 3 hours.  Now he's at school for 7 hours straight.

When I ask him about school he usually comments on how he gets 3 recesses.  He also enjoys eating the lunch I pack for him at school.  His teacher is Mrs Conway.  She seems really great.  She communicates well and she's very organized.

I'm excited for a consistent schedule.  I enjoy walking him to school, seeing the other moms and kids, and picking him up at the end of the day.  I'm slowly getting used to having just the two younger kids at home.  Mckenzie is really easy to please.  She loves all things crafty or girly.  Isaac on the other hand is not content with one thing for long.  But I'm sure we'll figure out this new phase of life soon.  I do miss Channing during the day.  He's a good buddy.

We've been practicing him riding and locking up his bike so that one day he can do it himself.

Isaac, always being silly.

Joey and Channing. This is our neighbor and Channing's best friend.

Notice Channing's silly face.  He had just realized that he was standing next to Paislee who is also a neighbor.

After the first day of school, it was a shorter day, a friend of ours set up a slip and slide for the kids.  Channing went down that thing more times than I can count.

Have you ever tried running (more like slow jogging) with a double stroller?  My suggestion is to avoid it...unless you're into pain and frustration. I'm a morning workout person.  And I'm not talking about waking up before my kids at 6am and getting in a workout--I'm not crazy.  I'm into doing my workout when it's convenient and I don't have to sacrifice too much.  For example I don't like to exercise when I:  Have to wake up earlier than normal.  Stay up later than normal. Be too cold/hot for a long period of time. Or listen to a kid cry/whine the whole time.     Right now I've chosen to walk/jog in the morning after breakfast and before Mckenzie's nap.  That way the morning goes by quickly and I get a workout in.  Justin and I signed up for a race here in Meridian and that's my workout motivation...hence the jogging with a stroller.  I'm pretty sure the double stroller ways at least 75lbs with the kids in it....

$$ for Jeeps

Well I've done it again - bought another Jeep. But this time it was Melissa pushing me to do it! (what a good wife!) It's a 99 Grand Cherokee Limited (we previously had a Laredo by the same year.) The people were originally asking $4200 but we Hamiltoned them down to $2800 thanks to Melissa. I was talking & negotiating with the husband. And then the wife comes out appalled that the husband was coming down so much in price. And she snapped and said she was firm on $3000. So Melissa stepped up and said "I wouldn't give more than $2800."  The tension was high as the 2 women shot dagger-eyes at each other. Neither one backing down. Finally the husband agreed. And we drove it home. Then 2 days later I decided to list our Cherokee for sale around midnight, by noon the next day (today) I had it sold. It's been a busy day. So in 2012 alone, I've now owned 4 different vehicles. Melissa is the hospital today. She is just starting her preceptorship in labo...

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.
