April Fools

Hey there!  It's incredible how fast these past few months have been.  Actually since having Isaac I think time has been flying.  I'm grateful to post updates on this blog to help me remember life with three kids.  Maybe one day I'll have to figure out how to print all these posts.  On April 1st Mckenzie, Channing, and I woke up to saran wrap in front of our bedroom doors.  Only Channing didn't see it in time before he walked right into it.  Other pranks included freezing the kids cereal bowls, switching a kitchen drawer, and turning milk green.  Channing also did a water bottle prank to Mckenzie which got him in big trouble.  I told him not to do it but I guess his idea was too good to not try.  Basically he told Mckenzie to look in his water bottle and then he squeezed it which shot water up her nose.  I could tell he actually felt really bad afterward.

On April 3rd I took Mckenzie to the eye doctor.  In the past few months I have noticed that she tilts her head when watching a show and her right eye often looks inward.  See the picture above?  You can see that her right eye is not looking straight.

They did different tests on her eyes and determined that her right eye is not very strong and she tries to use her left eye to compensate for that.  Alternating esotropia it's called.  She's needing to do vision therapy to strengthen her eye muscles so that both eyes can work together.  We are crossing our fingers that insurance will cover some of the therapy appointments since they cost a small fortune.

I'm sure you're wondering if Isaac has grown out of screaming all the time.  That'd be a no....  The picture above is after I took away a spray bottle (one he wasn't suppose to have) and then out of anger he pulled out one of my snap dragon plants.  I scolded him and then went inside the house.  He then stood at the door screaming for a few minutes.  Oh that kid.  Never a dull moment.

We had the Crawfords over for dinner so that we could catch up after they'd been in Mammoth for a week.  The cousins love playing together.

Mckenzie did so good at her eye doctor appointment.  I'm sure she'll be tough and do her best with another eye appointment this week.  I'm grateful for professionals that know what they are doing.

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

60 Things I Love About My Mom

In honor of my mom turning 60 years old on February 5th I have written 60 things that I love about her. 1. My mom lives the gospel. 2. She taught me how to follow the prophet. 3. My mom loves to travel. 4. With each baby I had she took the time to be there.  And then stayed for at least a week following the birth to help me at home.  She even brought be breakfast in bed. 5. My mom always fulfills her calling.  I remember when she was Relief Society President she was gone on my 15th birthday at an Enrichment meeting.  I was a bit peeved about it.  But now when I think about it I am inspired by her ability to 100% fulfill her calling and show up for her fellow RS sisters. 6. She taught me how to cook.  We always had a vegetable on the plate. 7. She thoroughly adores her grandkids. 8. My mom can do hard things. 9. My mom is a RN which is no easy job.  I know her job is often stressful.  She's an amazing labor and delivery nurs...
