Finishing Up July

July came and went.  In the month of July we went camping with the Crawfords, celebrated Mckenzie's 3rd birthday, Channing did two weeks of swim lessons, went to roaring springs, kids got hair cuts, and we went on a Kenney family reunion to McCall.  Busy, fun month!

We spend lots of time playing outside.  Mostly filling up the water toy or the kiddy pool.  Isaac looooves water.  He could splash himself in the face over and over again.

Channing fell asleep wearing a cape and mask, his light on full blast, and Jett asleep on his floor.

We had a family birthday party for Mckenzie.  Butterfly cake, pinata, mac n cheese for dinner (the adults had hawaiian chicken and cilantro lime rice), and lots of presents.

Mckenzie is so precious.  Some of the looks she gives me are hysterical.  She's always up for playing with play doh, painting, collecting rocks, going grocery shipping with me, reading, getting every single washcloth wet in the bathroom upstairs, and much more.

She desperately wants to go to school.  I could've put her in a 3 year old preschool that'd be two days a week and she would've loved it.  But I decided to wait a year.  Mainly because she still has bowel issues.  She had a check up with her surgeon and he was pleased with how everything looks.  He's optimistic that by working with the GI specialist we will get things figured out and she could be mostly potty trained in a year or two.

Mckenzie has been through a lot in her short life.  One major surgery and all the recovery following (blood tests, dilations, check ups, bowel clean-outs).  And she's still as happy as ever.

Isaac 14 months old with his favorite blanket.

Yes that is Channing in his church clothes and mullet wig.

Isn't she adorable with her new dress and purse from her bday?

Channing did amazing in his swim lessons.  He's super comfortable in the water.  To celebrate I took him to Artic Circle for ice cream.

Oh, and Isaac sometimes cries while I'm making dinner.  Gotta remember the hard times too right?
Before we headed to our Kenney Family Reunion I took the kids for a haircut.  I love their eyes.

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

60 Things I Love About My Mom

In honor of my mom turning 60 years old on February 5th I have written 60 things that I love about her. 1. My mom lives the gospel. 2. She taught me how to follow the prophet. 3. My mom loves to travel. 4. With each baby I had she took the time to be there.  And then stayed for at least a week following the birth to help me at home.  She even brought be breakfast in bed. 5. My mom always fulfills her calling.  I remember when she was Relief Society President she was gone on my 15th birthday at an Enrichment meeting.  I was a bit peeved about it.  But now when I think about it I am inspired by her ability to 100% fulfill her calling and show up for her fellow RS sisters. 6. She taught me how to cook.  We always had a vegetable on the plate. 7. She thoroughly adores her grandkids. 8. My mom can do hard things. 9. My mom is a RN which is no easy job.  I know her job is often stressful.  She's an amazing labor and delivery nurs...
