Motherhood Be Like...

Went to Walmart after picking Channing up from preschool.  The kids did really well in the store.  That's always a miracle in itself.  Getting a free cookie from the bakery is a great incentive.  Got the kids locked in their carseats and loaded the groceries.  I sat in the drivers seat and scanned my receipt into my savings catcher on the Walmart app.  Then I noticed that I was charged three times for a loaf of bread.  But I only bought one loaf of bread.  Gosh darnit.  If I was by myself I would've walked back in the store and talked to customer service.  But I have three kids in the car, not worth it!  I hate being charged for something I didn't buy! Even if it ended up being less than $4 out of my pocket.  Still!

I sat in the parking lot, waiting for a solution to present itself.  With Mckenzie kicking the back of my seat I decided to call and see if I could talk to someone about it.  Thank goodness for smart phones and being able to look up phone numbers on the fly.  After about 15 minutes a guy from customer service walked into the parking lot bringing me two loafs of bread.  Amazing!

We get home, kids are still doing good, no tears or yelling.  Groceries are unloaded, Channing takes Jett out to go potty, and I start making lunch.  Before we can have lunch I bring in the chairs from outside where they had been drying because I scrubbed the cushions and backs of each chair.  About one minute into lunch Mckenzie spills her milk.  Yup, on her newly cleaned seat cushion.  She's so sorry that she made a mess.  Yet she wants nothing to do with cleaning it up.  And now Isaac is screaming in his high chair because I'm cleaning up spilled milk instead of feeding him.

Motherhood at it's finest!

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

Almost 3 Years Old

Isaac will be turning 3 years old in a few weeks.  This child is entertaining, friendly, funny, stubborn, sneaky, demanding, curious, silly, feisty, and talkative. He reminds me of my grandpa, Papa K.  Before Papa K's stroke he would constantly find random people to talk to.  I remember on a trip to Europe with Papa K, Dede, my mom, and Carrie we met lots of new people.  And at every possible opportunity Papa K would try and talk to these people.  Isaac seems to have inherited this liking for talking to complete strangers. Today on a walk around the pond Isaac spotted kids/teenagers fishing.  Naturally he rode his strider bike right up to them, hopped off his bike, and got right into a conversation.  He rambled on and on about who knows what until we had to make him keep riding. He also likes to yell, "stop! Hey stop!" at random strangers to get them to talk to him.  Today he stopped a couple who was walking holding a new looking baby an...
