Enjoying Some Last Days of Warmth

Isaac had his 4 month appointment on Sept 21st.  He was a whopping 20lbs 10oz and 27 3/4 inches long.  Some how he's bigger than Channing was.  I didn't think it was possible to have a 4 month old bigger than Channing but Isaac is an over achiever.

Justin and I have been attempting to go out on more dates during the month.  We've been trying for two nights out a month.  Which may not seem like much to most couples but this is way more than what we normally do.  The best is when Grandma Joan and Grandpa Mark come to babysit the kids.  The kids are in heaven!  For our last date Justin and I went shopping at Costco (but forgot a cooler so we didn't get too much) and then had dinner at The Habit.  Yummy burgers and shakes!  Mmm...I'm hungry just thinking about it.  As usual Isaac was along for the ride.  One day we'll be able to go on a date totally kid free. But it's also nice to have some one on one time with Isaac.  As a third kid he definitely doesn't get much attention.

The kids plus Emma with grandma and grandpa playing superheroes!

One day when we're done having kids I'm gonna really miss the sweet moments with my babies when they're fed, asleep, and perfectly content.

I splurged and took both kids to get a hair cut.  I usually cut their hair myself to save money.  But Channing had preschool pictures coming up and we were gonna take family pictures soon.  Both kids did amazing and loved the balloon and sucker they got afterward.  Channing's hair is easy to cut but I'm no good at cutting Kenzie's hair.  So I'm glad they took care of her growing mullet.

Enjoying some last days of warmth before Fall really hits us.  Please don't leave us warm weather!! I'm no good without you....

The cutest cousins.

He loves his bugs!
If you are squeamish don't look at the next picture!  This was a massive blowout that was worthy of a quick picture and a bath in the sink.  Isaac has acquired a natural skill of pooping out the back of his diaper and all the way up to his shoulders.

You know what makes me AND my kids happy?  Baking cookies.  Yup.  They love it, I love it.  Win win.  Channing can crack an egg all by himself.  And Mckenzie is getting better at not spraying flour everywhere when she mixes.  If anything, my kids will be able to make a rock'n batch of cookies for their own friends and families one day.

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

60 Things I Love About My Mom

In honor of my mom turning 60 years old on February 5th I have written 60 things that I love about her. 1. My mom lives the gospel. 2. She taught me how to follow the prophet. 3. My mom loves to travel. 4. With each baby I had she took the time to be there.  And then stayed for at least a week following the birth to help me at home.  She even brought be breakfast in bed. 5. My mom always fulfills her calling.  I remember when she was Relief Society President she was gone on my 15th birthday at an Enrichment meeting.  I was a bit peeved about it.  But now when I think about it I am inspired by her ability to 100% fulfill her calling and show up for her fellow RS sisters. 6. She taught me how to cook.  We always had a vegetable on the plate. 7. She thoroughly adores her grandkids. 8. My mom can do hard things. 9. My mom is a RN which is no easy job.  I know her job is often stressful.  She's an amazing labor and delivery nurs...
