Here's What's Up

It's August 26th and the summer is too quickly coming to an end.  Next month is September and then October!  What the heck!  Then we'll be waiting to see if this winter is as bad (meaning freezing and snowy) as last year.

Trip to Roaring Springs was awesome!  I love summer.
Today my sweet cousin Carrie is getting married at the Newport Beach LDS Temple in California.  I wish we could be there!  Thinking of her today!  It was probably a good decision to not spend money on a family trip this summer since Isaac's tongue tie issue took up a lot of our time and money.  But I still hate missing out on family get togethers.

Isaac is pretty much the same.  He has happy moments and very sad moments.  He's tolerating the PT well.  I do mouth, tongue, and lip stretches on him a few times a day.  He's still clicking while nursing and swallowing a lot of air.  I met with a lactation consultant two days ago and she said she's never met with anyone whose already done so much to fix the problem.  Meaning we've already tried PT, tongue lasering, changing the position I nurse him, etc.  Which makes me feel good that I've at least exhausted all my options.  But then makes me sad that we've exhausted all our options and nothings getting better.  I am grateful that he's gaining weight like a champ, or should I say sumo wrestler?  He was 18lbs 15ozs at the lactation appointment.

At this point my best option, according to the lactation consultant, the physical therapist, and my own medical knowledge, is to continue with the PT at home and wait for him to grow out of this.  Which is really making me work on my patience.  I wish I was as thin as my patience!  (Ba dum chh!) There's been many moments lately between Isaac's problems and Mckenzie's problems that I just want to say, "okay I'm done, someone please take over."

Mckenzie has been doing loads better.  Thank heavens!  She hasn't had a bad day (where she poops 10+ times) for a few weeks. Although yesterday she pooped like 5 times and by the end of the day she said her bum hurt.  There was no diaper rash but something was irritating her.  We had an appointment with her surgeon a few weeks ago who took a look at her bum and said that things are looking great and no further surgery is needed.  (Insert happy dance!)  We have an appointment with a GI clinic in October if she continues to have bowel moment problems.  I'm hoping she'll just get better and better and I can cancel that appointment.

These kids love fishing with their dad!  And this time they actually caught fish!  Mckenzie's favorite part is playing with the worms.
Channing is starting preschool next week!!  I don't think he understands what preschool is all about.  But he'll shortly find out!  He's going two days a week for about 2 hours each day.  Mckenzie has heard me talk to Channing about school lately and she has started to pretend to go to school.  She'll pack a bag and say, "bye! I'm going to school!"  Yesterday before nap time I read her a Sesame Street book about things to do, like play ball, ride a bike, etc.  The end of the book says, "what do you want to do?"  And Kenzie answered, "go to school!"  Haha!

Channing, 4 years old and on his way to preschool next week!
Channing is still very much into catching bugs.  The bigger the bug the better!  We took the kids to the Zoo on Monday, after watching the eclipse from the back yard, and we loved the butterfly exhibit.  We even splurged and paid $3 to feed a giraffe!

Do you see that huge spider on the table in front of Channing?  Yeah, super gross.  It was his friend pretty much all morning.  Oh, and it was dead.  Maybe that's why he liked it so much, it didn't try to run away!

The solar eclipse was so cool.  It got dark and cold for a few minutes and it was really strange.  We didn't drive to see the total solar eclipse but it was still absolutely amazing.  We now really want to see a total solar eclipse one day!

Pretty sure this is what Channing's heaven looks like.

Feeding the giraffe!  It was so pretty to see up close.

Have you ever tried running (more like slow jogging) with a double stroller?  My suggestion is to avoid it...unless you're into pain and frustration. I'm a morning workout person.  And I'm not talking about waking up before my kids at 6am and getting in a workout--I'm not crazy.  I'm into doing my workout when it's convenient and I don't have to sacrifice too much.  For example I don't like to exercise when I:  Have to wake up earlier than normal.  Stay up later than normal. Be too cold/hot for a long period of time. Or listen to a kid cry/whine the whole time.     Right now I've chosen to walk/jog in the morning after breakfast and before Mckenzie's nap.  That way the morning goes by quickly and I get a workout in.  Justin and I signed up for a race here in Meridian and that's my workout motivation...hence the jogging with a stroller.  I'm pretty sure the double stroller ways at least 75lbs with the kids in it.  20lbs for Kenz

Pain in the Neck Child

I have one child that's a pain in the neck because she has a pain in her neck!  Did you follow that?  Actually Mckenzie is adorable and an excellent baby, but the poor kid has torticollis.  Here's what google says about torticollis,  a condition in which the head becomes persistently turned to one side, often associated with painful muscle spasms.   Mckenzie only wants to look forward and to the right.  This has caused the right side of her head to become flat. Last Thursday I took her to the physical therapist that specializes in this problem and received lots of good stretches that I need to do with Mckenzie 2-3 times a day.  She also wants Mckenzie to have tummy time about 5 times a day for 5 minutes each time.  The only time I can do these stretches successfully with Mckenzie is when she is falling asleep for a nap.  And it takes about 10-15 minutes to complete the stretches each time.  We're hopeful that within the next 6 weeks we'll see some improvement.  The PT

$$ for Jeeps

Well I've done it again - bought another Jeep. But this time it was Melissa pushing me to do it! (what a good wife!) It's a 99 Grand Cherokee Limited (we previously had a Laredo by the same year.) The people were originally asking $4200 but we Hamiltoned them down to $2800 thanks to Melissa. I was talking & negotiating with the husband. And then the wife comes out appalled that the husband was coming down so much in price. And she snapped and said she was firm on $3000. So Melissa stepped up and said "I wouldn't give more than $2800."  The tension was high as the 2 women shot dagger-eyes at each other. Neither one backing down. Finally the husband agreed. And we drove it home. Then 2 days later I decided to list our Cherokee for sale around midnight, by noon the next day (today) I had it sold. It's been a busy day. So in 2012 alone, I've now owned 4 different vehicles. Melissa is the hospital today. She is just starting her preceptorship in labo
