A blessing, 4th of July, and a 2nd birthday!

I'm not good at posting on our blog frequently, so when I do post something it usually consists of many events crammed into one post.  And this entry will be no exception! Ya'll ready for this? Cue Space Jam Theme song.

I love Summer time.  You can go outside without bundling up and we spend a lot more time outside when it's warm.  Walks, fishing, picnics! Love it all!

Fishing at the pond with daddy.  One of Mckenzie's and Channing's favorite things to do.  One day maybe they'll actually catch something! ;)

On July 2nd we had Isaac's baby blessing.  Then afterwards the Hamilton's and the Crawford's came over for a taco dinner.  We love having family close by.  Makes these kind of events great.

On July 4th we headed out to Lucky Peak with the Crawford's for some boat time!  Mckenzie was actually super comfortable going on the tube and even sitting on the easy wake trainer.  Channing wasn't too impressed with either.  Mainly he just wanted to swim in the water.  Oh and catch bugs with Ryan when we stopped for lunch.

That night, to celebrate July 4th, we did some fireworks.  After checking on Isaac in the house I found a snake slithering across our driveway.  Pretty sure that was the highlight of the night for the kids.  Channing so desperately wants to hold a snake.  One of these days he's gonna learn the hard way that snakes aren't always friendly and he's gonna get bitten.  We let the kids stay up till 11:30pm.  By then everyone was so tired!  It was a great day!
Happy 4th!
Next event was Mckenzie's 2nd birthday!  We celebrated her birthday on Saturday, July 8th.  Her actually birthday is July 10th.  We invited over the Hamilton's and Crawford's for a sandwich dinner and ice cream cake dessert.  We filled up the pool and had water balloons.  It was about 100* outside so the kids enjoyed the water fun.

Mckenzie is still struggling with pooping too often since her surgery.  We have good days and bad days.  We're meeting with a dietician this week to see how I can maybe change up her diet.  Her surgery was in March but things haven't gone back to normal for her yet, in regards to her bowels.  When she's not in pain from a diaper rash she's a very sweet, smart, and happy girl.  I love seeing more of her personality come out.  She can be a little sassy sometimes but she's always quick to put her self in time-out or give a hug. Lol!  She loves playing in her kitchen, playing with play dough, or feeding the ducks.

I took Mckenzie to Toy's R Us for a little mommy and daughter time.  I let her pick out a chair for her room.  She put them all in a line and sat in each one.  She decided on the Elmo one in the end.

Love this girl!

It's a Good Life

Happy Father's Day to Justin!  I honestly think he is the best husband and dad that I could ever ask for.  Did you know that when Channing wakes up randomly at night all I have to do it shake Justin awake and he'll go take care of it?  Yes, I am lucky.  Dinner was steak, asparagus, and bacon wrapped corn.  Mmmmm.  I love the new things Channing learns everyday.  The other day he saw me use an oven mitt and had to give it a try.   Yesterday I walked around the mall, shopped at Target, and got a strawberry limeade from Sonic.  It was fun.  But then Channing didn't want to take a second nap and was cranky all day.  Oh well.  At least half the day was awesome!  Yup, Channing still loves pouring water everywhere.  And sitting in it....

Merry Christmas

It was a white Christmas here in Meridian, Idaho.  On Christmas Eve we went to church for an hour and then came home and let Channing and Mckenzie each open one present.  We made peanut butter blossoms for Santa's cookies.  And we wrote letter's to Santa.  We also watched mormon messages about the birth of Christ.  For a few weeks the kids were earning pieces of straw to put in Jesus's manger.  Each good act or deed equaled a piece of straw placed in the manger.  Then on Christmas Eve we placed Jesus in the manger and talked about how all our acts of kindness created a nice, soft bed for baby Jesus to lay in.  It was a great visual for them.  (I got this idea from my Relief Society last year.) Making cookies. Mckenzie opened a book from the Crawford's.   Channing got a fort building kit from the Crawford's. Letter's the Santa.   These cute kids. Who knew Mckenzie wanted a puppy.... ...

Can't Wait To Be Done!

I'm really getting tired of school.  I'm almost done with my second to last semester of school.  Which means there is a lot of homework to finish in these next few weeks.  It seems that when I have homework to do I have a cleaner house because I'll usually clean before I decide to do homework.  I guess it's my way of procrastinating.  Other ways of procrastinating are: Checking on my garden to see what's growing.  Above is zucchini.  Buying a new bike! Making spinach and cheese quiche.  Playing peek a boo with Channing. Taking Channing to the park! It's been difficult to constantly have school in the back of my mind.  There's always some assignment I should be working on.  (I was just working on my physical assessment class and this blog post is my break.)  School has been great and I am grateful to be a RN.  I know school is important and I'm happy that I'll be done with my BSN in December!
