1st Birthday and a Family Visit

We celebrated Mckenzie's 1st birthday with balloons, cake, presents, and family.  We love this girl so much.  She is silly and determined.  She lets you know what she wants and has the best evil laugh (thanks to Justin who taught her).  She's super smart too.  She tries to repeat sounds all the time.  Mckenzie can say "doggy," "mama," and "dada."  And we swear that she's said "bye bye" before.  We are incredibly blessed to have this cute, smart, sweet girl as our daughter.

Cortney and Patrick came to visit!  I think Channing and Patrick are bosom friends, kindred spirits if you will.  They are two blond cuties.  We went to the aquarium.  We fed ducks and played at the park.  Justin took them fishing.  We had a campfire and roasted s'mores.  It was great.  The day after Patrick left Channing said, "I miss Patrick.  He's a good guy."  And then proceeded to tell me everything they did together.

Mckenzie and pantries....  If the pantry door is even a little bit open Mckenzie will notice and head right in.  Today while visiting teaching Mckenzie made her way into the ladies pantry...not sure how that happened.  Luckily she doesn't destroy too much.  Just finds the ketchup packets and throws them in the ice cream maker.

Last night Justin bought his first ATV.  It's a 850cc polaris.  I think....  If you care about knowing more you better ask Justin.  I just know that it's huge and Channing loves it.

Speaking of ATV's...Channing has wanted one of his own for a few months.  He once got to drive a neighbor's child ATV and he was hooked!  He asks on a daily basis, sometimes an hourly basis, if he can buy one.  So a few days ago we told him that if he wants his own ATV he needs to earn enough money to buy one.  He's made almost a whole dollar by doing extra chores!

Funny moment:  A few weeks ago Channing was in our neighbors backyard who has chickens.  The neighbor girl was showing him how to feed the chickens raspberries.  I heard Channing say, "Here chickens!  Oink Oink!" Lol.  I apparently need to review animal noises with him.

Cute picture of Mckenzie...in case your life is lacking cuteness.

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

60 Things I Love About My Mom

In honor of my mom turning 60 years old on February 5th I have written 60 things that I love about her. 1. My mom lives the gospel. 2. She taught me how to follow the prophet. 3. My mom loves to travel. 4. With each baby I had she took the time to be there.  And then stayed for at least a week following the birth to help me at home.  She even brought be breakfast in bed. 5. My mom always fulfills her calling.  I remember when she was Relief Society President she was gone on my 15th birthday at an Enrichment meeting.  I was a bit peeved about it.  But now when I think about it I am inspired by her ability to 100% fulfill her calling and show up for her fellow RS sisters. 6. She taught me how to cook.  We always had a vegetable on the plate. 7. She thoroughly adores her grandkids. 8. My mom can do hard things. 9. My mom is a RN which is no easy job.  I know her job is often stressful.  She's an amazing labor and delivery nurs...
