Feeling busy in February

I agree with everyone who has ever said that buying a home is one of the most stressful times in your life.  It has definitely been one of our top stressful and busy moments in our life.  Mid January we went to look at a home that I found online.  It was probably the 9th or 10th house that we've gone to see since our home search began last year when we first moved to Meridian.  Since then, we have put in an offer on the home.  We negotiated back and forth a few times, then accepted a counter offer.  Now we've completed the inspection and appraisal.  The final steps are getting all the information the underwriter of our loan asks for.  Man, these underwriters want to know every detail of your money withdrawals and deposits.  But things are working out and it seems that we will be moving around the first week of March.  Anyone want to help me pack boxes? I despise packing.  But what's worse than packing is unpacking!!  The one thing that is keeping me going through the packing process (we've done two boxes) is that this will be the LAST time we move for a while.  Maybe even 10 or 15 years! Woohoo!

The kids are doing great.  Mckenzie is the most giggly baby ever.  She laughs when you pick her up, when you walk down the stairs, when you make faces at her, and especially when Channing is around.  She is now 7 months old.  Channing is soon to be a 3 year old.  Wow.  Before I know it he'll be in kindergarten.  His favorite things to do is watch Monsters Inc, make Mckenzie laugh, getting thrown up in the air by daddy, eating chocolate, playing at the park, and riding his strider bike.  I cannot wait for Spring and Summer to arrive.  It'll be a blast to play outside more often.

In other news, Justin turned 30 years old on Jan 30th.  His golden birthday.  We went to Tucanos for dinner and then had family over on Sunday for a get together.  I made a freakin good ice cream cake for his bday dessert.  And we had his favorite Wisconsin brats. Yum yum.  For his birthday present I got him a GPS running watch and heart rate monitor.  And I signed him up for a 10K in May.  Have I mentioned that the house we're buying backs up to a greenbelt that has a great running path?  And less than half a mile down that greenbelt is a park. Sweet right?

As I'm sitting here writing this I just remembered that Justin and I are giving a talk in church on Sunday.  I should probably start that.... Dang it.  If you ever want to give lots of talks in church all you have to do is move in and out of wards each year.  Super fun! Not....

Here's some pictures from our life!
This is what Channing set up while I was putting Mckenzie down for a nap.  Quite genius he is.

Snow! I love the snow here in Meridian.  Channing is SO excited whenever he sees snow outside.  And then I'm happy because it usually melts by the afternoon!

Mckenzie's cheeks.... need I say more?

Snow in a bowl!

He was so excited when I let him bring the snow inside! He kept touching it to his face and feet.  Funny guy.

We stuffed ourselves at Tucanos for Justin's bday.  So delicious!!  Except the chicken hearts...no thanks!!

Happy 30th Birthday!

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

60 Things I Love About My Mom

In honor of my mom turning 60 years old on February 5th I have written 60 things that I love about her. 1. My mom lives the gospel. 2. She taught me how to follow the prophet. 3. My mom loves to travel. 4. With each baby I had she took the time to be there.  And then stayed for at least a week following the birth to help me at home.  She even brought be breakfast in bed. 5. My mom always fulfills her calling.  I remember when she was Relief Society President she was gone on my 15th birthday at an Enrichment meeting.  I was a bit peeved about it.  But now when I think about it I am inspired by her ability to 100% fulfill her calling and show up for her fellow RS sisters. 6. She taught me how to cook.  We always had a vegetable on the plate. 7. She thoroughly adores her grandkids. 8. My mom can do hard things. 9. My mom is a RN which is no easy job.  I know her job is often stressful.  She's an amazing labor and delivery nurs...
