That Quitting Feeling

You know that feeling when you and your significant other no longer have jobs? It's  official . Both Melissa and I quit. Today was our last day of work for both of us. Well I guess Melissa still has a few hours left in her shift. But I clocked out at noon. Now that we aren't working, we plan on celebrating with some Ramen Noodle soup. Maybe we'll splurge and eat some hotdogs. I think Channing knows he's going to have to step up to contribute. Just a little bit ago he came inside, grabbed his backpack of tools, and headed outside to start working on his bike. Somebody has to bring home the bacon (although he refuses to eat bacon...or anything that isn't bread really). There are a lot of things that I'm thankful for from my experiences at Netmark. Over the last 2.5 years I explored a lot of new areas of technology. Learned a lot about the type of manager that I need & that I need to be. I broke some bad programming habits, and developed...

These are a few of my favorite things....

Life is good and I want to remember how fun these days are.  Luckily we've had decent weather these past few weeks, although we've had some really cold and windy days too.  Living in Idaho I've learned to appreciate the nice weather days.  For example, I really enjoy taking Channing on a walk and not having my face and ears freeze from the cold and wind.  For our walk today I didn't even have to wear a coat! I much rather be warm than cold any day!     Random note...being sensitive to loud noises must get passed on in your genes.  As a kid (and teenager and sometimes an adult) I had to plug my ears when vacuuming, using a blender, or other loud noise type things.  Channing is exactly the same way.  He's okay with the vacuum but he'll start crying if you start a blender or lawn mower with him close by.  If I'm making a smoothie I have to send him into Justin's office or he'll freak out and cry.  Below is a prime example of Ch...

Dance parties, trucks, slides, and Daddy being wrong

Well it's already happening. Channing is starting to be right and I am wrong. I thought I'd have 10-12 years before Channing was right  about everything. Channing, as are most 2 year old boys, is really into diggers (excavators, backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, etc). Recently he's started to really like cement mixer trucks as well. He has a couple books that talk about it. Yesterday, I told him he could take one toy with him while we ran errands. He began looking for his "Concrete truck" . I told him that he didn't own a truck like that. He kept looking. He eventually settled on bringing 2 small trains. The next day after a successful Easter egg hunt he went to his toys and pulled out a cement mixer truck. He turned to me "Ooo, Daddy, concrete truck" . I could see it in his eyes and face "I told you daddy. Just listen to me next time. I know what I'm talking about." Melissa seemed to enjoy that I was wrong as well. Channing h...
