October is almost over

Time is flying by....  I usually end the day by thinking, oh my goodness I have so much to do this week!  Between school, work, certifications for work, exercising, and family life I feel busy!  Julia and Cameron and family came to visit earlier this month.  That was really fun.  We mainly just hung out and took walks.  Channing loved having friends to play with.  It'll be great to live close to family one day.
Do you know what else will be great??  Being done with school this December!!  It's so stinkin hard to have a busy day and then realize I need to do home work.  Blah, i hate it.  At least this is my last semester.  Yes!
One random moment of this month was when some driver drove up our curb, onto our grass, hit the side of our Xterra, and then drove away before we ran outside to see what just happened.  Luckily the Xterra isn't badly damaged.  The hit shifted the front bumper and broke the right headlight.
Current news with Channing.  He has a cold and has lost his voice.  Poor kid can barely talk.  It's weird for him to be so quiet.  We miss his laugh.  Hopefully he'll be feeling better tomorrow.  He's learned to do this eye rolling thing.  It's kind of hilarious.  And he knows we think it's funny so of course he does it for the attention.  His favorite activity is taking walks.  Usually by 11am he asks to go on a walk.  And I say, "okay get your shoes and coat." And he says "okay."  And then we take a 30 minute walk in which we go about half a block.
Not sure what else is new in our life.  Justin and I are watching The Voice so I guess I'm slightly distracted.  Alright...here's what everyone wants anyways...pictures!
Fun with cousins.

Channing pretending to be Lani.

Makayla when I tell her to smile and show me her teeth.

Swinging with my baby.

Cameron swinging with his baby.

Sometimes we walk to Channing's friends house when they aren't home and leave them notes like this one "Channing was here."

This kid!

I think suckers make him happy...

Sometimes after our walk we just sit in the car and hang out.  Channing loves it. And he needs his seat buckled like a big kid.

Best teething tool...Luigi's Italian Ice Cream.

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

60 Things I Love About My Mom

In honor of my mom turning 60 years old on February 5th I have written 60 things that I love about her. 1. My mom lives the gospel. 2. She taught me how to follow the prophet. 3. My mom loves to travel. 4. With each baby I had she took the time to be there.  And then stayed for at least a week following the birth to help me at home.  She even brought be breakfast in bed. 5. My mom always fulfills her calling.  I remember when she was Relief Society President she was gone on my 15th birthday at an Enrichment meeting.  I was a bit peeved about it.  But now when I think about it I am inspired by her ability to 100% fulfill her calling and show up for her fellow RS sisters. 6. She taught me how to cook.  We always had a vegetable on the plate. 7. She thoroughly adores her grandkids. 8. My mom can do hard things. 9. My mom is a RN which is no easy job.  I know her job is often stressful.  She's an amazing labor and delivery nurs...
