We're cheating on Costco

We hang out in the back yard a lot. Yay summer! I love it when Channing plays nicely and just does his own thing.

This morning after breakfast Channing took a fall. I was doing dishes and he was walking into the living room so I didn't see him slip and hit his face on the coffee table. But it looks like he smacked his eye/cheek on the corner of the table. Owiee! Breaks my heart. I'm just glad it wasn't worse.

It looks more red and purple in person. Ouch!

While our Thai Chicken Pizza was cooking on the grill Channing and I sat down to watch Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood.

And in other great news, we got a Sam's Club membership. Pretty sure we'll end up spending more money on food now. But it's only just down the street and it's fun to walk around. And the membership was cheap! Our closest Costco is about an hour drive away. So we gave in. I have very high expectations Sam's Club! Channing's favorite part was the huge TVs. Tomorrow we plan on walking around and having lunch. We'll see if their hot dogs compare to Costcos.

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was. He was a scarecrow this Halloween. We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw. The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around. Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot. Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started. But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket. Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it! At least he's easy to please! Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out? Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain.... The poor kid is so congested all the time. When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep. Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible. And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again. Last night it was every 3 hours. I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held. Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here. Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad. Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes. Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job. With no lunch breaks. And get this! Channin...

Almost 3 Years Old

Isaac will be turning 3 years old in a few weeks. This child is entertaining, friendly, funny, stubborn, sneaky, demanding, curious, silly, feisty, and talkative. He reminds me of my grandpa, Papa K. Before Papa K's stroke he would constantly find random people to talk to. I remember on a trip to Europe with Papa K, Dede, my mom, and Carrie we met lots of new people. And at every possible opportunity Papa K would try and talk to these people. Isaac seems to have inherited this liking for talking to complete strangers. Today on a walk around the pond Isaac spotted kids/teenagers fishing. Naturally he rode his strider bike right up to them, hopped off his bike, and got right into a conversation. He rambled on and on about who knows what until we had to make him keep riding. He also likes to yell, "stop! Hey stop!" at random strangers to get them to talk to him.
