New Job

This week I started my new job as a labor and delivery nurse.  It was three days straight of 12 hour shifts.  I was so nervous but in the end I think things went well.  I enjoy being there and working.  I think my favorite part is feeling like I'm helping out these moms.  I've got another 5 weeks of orientation and a lot to learn!

The hardest part about this week was missing Channing.  Since my shift goes from 7am to 7pm Channing is often in bed already before I get home.  Which means I go a long time with out seeing him.  I think things are going well with his babysitter.  We've been told he's taken good naps and plays well.  So I really hope he's happy!  My main goal about taking this job is making sure Channing is happy and comfortable at the babysitters house.

There were a few evenings that Justin kept Channing awake until I made it home.  Channing was so cute.  He'd say "momma!" and run up to me and give me a tight squeeze.  My hope is that after orientation is done then I can start working one or two days a week.  That way a majority of my time is at home with Channing.

I love this kid!

I took this picture the day before I started work and I look at it all the time!  Cutie pie.

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

Almost 3 Years Old

Isaac will be turning 3 years old in a few weeks.  This child is entertaining, friendly, funny, stubborn, sneaky, demanding, curious, silly, feisty, and talkative. He reminds me of my grandpa, Papa K.  Before Papa K's stroke he would constantly find random people to talk to.  I remember on a trip to Europe with Papa K, Dede, my mom, and Carrie we met lots of new people.  And at every possible opportunity Papa K would try and talk to these people.  Isaac seems to have inherited this liking for talking to complete strangers. Today on a walk around the pond Isaac spotted kids/teenagers fishing.  Naturally he rode his strider bike right up to them, hopped off his bike, and got right into a conversation.  He rambled on and on about who knows what until we had to make him keep riding. He also likes to yell, "stop! Hey stop!" at random strangers to get them to talk to him.  Today he stopped a couple who was walking holding a new looking baby an...
