Feel the music

I thought I'd write a blog post while I've got a minute.  Channing is currently waking up from a nap and Justin doesn't get home from work for another 30 minutes.  I've got pizza dough rising and no good shows to watch on hulu, so I guess it's bloggin time!

I accepted a PRN night shift RN job at Mountain View Hospital in Labor and Delivery.  Earlier today I had to get a babysitter for Channing so I could fill out paper work, get a drug test, and a TB test.  Channing would not let go of me when it was time for me to leave him with the babysitter.  He cried and cried.  Sometimes he's much more grumpy when I have to leave him, but most of the time he's okay.  Just breaks my heart.

But luckily I spend most of my time at home so he gets lots of mommy time.  Here's picture from earlier this week when he jumped on my back and started pulling my ponytail.  I think he thought he was riding a horse....

Now I would like to talk about Zumba.  After getting a gym membership I started checking out some of the classes.  I've done kick and core, stroller bootcamp, and Zumba.  I figured Zumba would be pretty easy.  I honestly thought I wouldn't break a sweat.  Boy was I wrong.  After about 10 minutes I was dripping in sweat.

I go to zumba in the evening after Channing is in bed.  It's really fun and you get a work out without even realizing it.  I think my dance moves have gone from like a 1 to a 5 since I started zumba (on a 0-10 scale).  So yeah, I'm pretty great.  Just kidding.  I look ridiculous.  There must be something in my DNA that just means I can't dance.  I attempt it, but it doesn't look very nice.  The class is usually about 90% Latina ladies.  And there must be something in their DNA that makes them good at dancing.  There's a lot of salsa moves in Zumba so I'm just the white girl that attempts to dance.  But I don't care what I look like.  Because it's fun!  Some of those dance moves are hilarious!  There's one I call the gasser swooshing move.  It kinda looks like your fanning a gasser from your behind.  I must be doing in wrong....  Lol.
Doesn't matter if your big or small, everyone shakes it in Zumba!

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

60 Things I Love About My Mom

In honor of my mom turning 60 years old on February 5th I have written 60 things that I love about her. 1. My mom lives the gospel. 2. She taught me how to follow the prophet. 3. My mom loves to travel. 4. With each baby I had she took the time to be there.  And then stayed for at least a week following the birth to help me at home.  She even brought be breakfast in bed. 5. My mom always fulfills her calling.  I remember when she was Relief Society President she was gone on my 15th birthday at an Enrichment meeting.  I was a bit peeved about it.  But now when I think about it I am inspired by her ability to 100% fulfill her calling and show up for her fellow RS sisters. 6. She taught me how to cook.  We always had a vegetable on the plate. 7. She thoroughly adores her grandkids. 8. My mom can do hard things. 9. My mom is a RN which is no easy job.  I know her job is often stressful.  She's an amazing labor and delivery nurs...
