Commercial Debut

In case you didn't know, Justin and I are pretty much famous.  Okay, I'm kidding.  But we are going to be in a sushi commercial!  On Monday, after I went to quit my job, Justin called and asked if we could meet up at a new sushi place called Ninja Sushi for lunch.  We had a babysitter at home with Channing so it was a fun lunch date.  This sushi place just barely opened down the street from where we live in Idaho Falls.  Justin and I both really like sushi.  When we got to the sushi place we saw there was a camera guy and one other guy directing it.  Turns out they're from Local News 8.

After we ordered our food we sat down to wait for our rolls and teriyaki bowl to be made.  Then an employee came over and handed us utensils and said "try it!"  He was pointing to a plate of sushi behind us.  We thought, sure!  I don't turn down fresh free sushi.  Then we realized they were going to film us eating for the commercial.  Luckily I have a lot experience being in commercials...okay not really.  But my cousins and I did make a pretty great brownie commercial one time.

They told us to look happy and look like we were enjoying our food.  The sushi was really good, but I don't know if my face really showed it.  I needed a lesson from Guy Fieri on how to eat food and make a "wow" face at the same time.  I learned it's really hard to eat sushi daintily.  You pretty much have to put the whole piece in your mouth and pretend like you're mouth isn't stuffed with sushi.

After that we went back to our seats and the food we ordered was ready.  We secretly hoped the owners would give a coupon or gift card for making "yum!" faces into the camera...but they didn't.  :(  Oh well, we got a fun lunch date and a funny experience.

We don't know when the commercial will be on and we don't have cable anyways.  But the director guy gave us his card to call and find out when it will be on.  We'll have to figure out where we can watch it!  I think it'll be hilarious.

  1. So glad you could use the experience of our brownie commercial for something. You were meant for stardom.

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

60 Things I Love About My Mom

In honor of my mom turning 60 years old on February 5th I have written 60 things that I love about her. 1. My mom lives the gospel. 2. She taught me how to follow the prophet. 3. My mom loves to travel. 4. With each baby I had she took the time to be there.  And then stayed for at least a week following the birth to help me at home.  She even brought be breakfast in bed. 5. My mom always fulfills her calling.  I remember when she was Relief Society President she was gone on my 15th birthday at an Enrichment meeting.  I was a bit peeved about it.  But now when I think about it I am inspired by her ability to 100% fulfill her calling and show up for her fellow RS sisters. 6. She taught me how to cook.  We always had a vegetable on the plate. 7. She thoroughly adores her grandkids. 8. My mom can do hard things. 9. My mom is a RN which is no easy job.  I know her job is often stressful.  She's an amazing labor and delivery nurs...
