Just keep running...just keep running....

We seem to be staying busy lately.  I've started going to a stroller boot camp every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning.  And let me tell ya, those other moms are crazy.  They're all basically in awesome shape and could probably run a marathon tomorrow if they wanted.  So as you can probably guess, I'm usually in the back of the group especially when it comes to running.  I've never been good at endurance running and this class pushes that a lot.  For example...on Wednesday the class was held at the Greenbelt.  I arrived a few minutes late and when I got there they were all starting to jog.  Which is a normal thing for the beginning of most of our classes.  I heard someone say that we were jogging to a park.  I started out great and kept up with everyone but after about a mile we started to separate a little bit.  Most were in front of me and a few people were behind me.  This jog/walk went on for forever!  I kept telling myself, okay we must be stopping soon.  Turns out the whole hour long class was jogging.  And to make matters worse...I got lost.  We jogged to a park about 1.5 miles from our starting point.  It was really pretty with lots of trees and streams.  I assumed we were all meeting up there.  But I couldn't find anyone.  I got to a point were there was a right or left turn.  I had no idea were I was going so I decided to turn around and back track to our starting point (already 2 miles away by now).  Turns out that it was all a loop and I ended up looping around the park twice which added about 20 minutes extra.  I ended up coming back to that same right and left turn and finally realized that I had been there before.  Anyways...yes, I finally made it back to my car.  With very sore legs.  And a grumpy child (although I came prepared with crackers which kept Channing mostly happy). If anyone asks me on Friday what happened I'm just gonna tell them that I thought the run was too short and decided to loop around the park an extra time.  (Hah!)

At one point during the loop around the park there were these huge sprinklers that you had to dodge.  I didn't time one quite right and Channing and I got totally soaked.  I thought it felt great.  But I don't think Channing thought so.
He got sprayed right in the face!  Sorry Channing!

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

60 Things I Love About My Mom

In honor of my mom turning 60 years old on February 5th I have written 60 things that I love about her. 1. My mom lives the gospel. 2. She taught me how to follow the prophet. 3. My mom loves to travel. 4. With each baby I had she took the time to be there.  And then stayed for at least a week following the birth to help me at home.  She even brought be breakfast in bed. 5. My mom always fulfills her calling.  I remember when she was Relief Society President she was gone on my 15th birthday at an Enrichment meeting.  I was a bit peeved about it.  But now when I think about it I am inspired by her ability to 100% fulfill her calling and show up for her fellow RS sisters. 6. She taught me how to cook.  We always had a vegetable on the plate. 7. She thoroughly adores her grandkids. 8. My mom can do hard things. 9. My mom is a RN which is no easy job.  I know her job is often stressful.  She's an amazing labor and delivery nurs...
