"Stay still child!"

Changing Channing's diaper has become a complete pain in the bum.  I place him on the changing table and immediately he begins to roll over.  Grr!!!  Stay still child!  I've learned which toys entertain him the most during diaper change time.  His favorite is a bag of wipes.  Probably because it makes a crinkly noise when he holds it.  But sometimes even the bag of wipes doesn't do the trick and I'm forced to pin him down.  Which ends with both of us flustered and frustrated.

Another thing that Channing hates is when I'm changing his clothes.  For example, yesterday I decided to try on a 9 month shirt on Channing.  After forcing it over his large head and shoving his chubby arms through the holes I looked down and noticed his belly poking out.  I stood him up and two inches of midriff were hanging out.  In my family we call this the "Britney Spears look".  Not good.  There goes another shirt in the too small box.  (And yes Julia, I know it wasn't smart even trying an outfit smaller than 12 months.  But it was cute!)

We've been trying the cry it out (CIO) method in the Hamilton house.  (That goes for both baby and mom.)  The first night things didn't go so well.  The second night went better.  I'm hoping we are on our way towards Channing sleeping through the night.  But if there is one thing I've learned being a mom is: you think your baby is on a schedule?  Wait till tomorrow or tomorrow night, in this case.

Besides those small moments of frustration I think Channing is probably one of the happiest and most well behaved babies.  But then again I don't hang out with many other babies.  He's especially adorable when he's asleep.  Nice and quiet.
Channing can now get into a bear crawl position.  He can't crawl yet but I'm sure that'll happen soon.  And then we'll be in trouble.

How can you not love this laugh!

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

60 Things I Love About My Mom

In honor of my mom turning 60 years old on February 5th I have written 60 things that I love about her. 1. My mom lives the gospel. 2. She taught me how to follow the prophet. 3. My mom always fulfills her calling.  I remember when she was Relief Society President she was gone on my 15th birthday at an Enrichment meeting.  I was a bit peeved about it.  But now when I think about it I am inspired by her ability to 100% fulfill her calling and show up for her fellow RS sisters. 6. She taught me how to cook.  We always had a vegetable on the plate. 7. She thoroughly adores her grandkids. 8. My mom can do hard things. 9. My mom is a RN which is no easy job.  I know her job is often stressful.  She's an amazing labor and delivery nurs...
