It's a ...........

Well we have seen the benefits of Melissa working at the Student Health Center --> free ultrasound. There is an ultrasound tech that Melissa works with that wanted to test her skills out on Melissa. So with an hour's notice I headed over to her work.

There were 5 of us total in that dark room. An excited coworker of Melissa's, a tech in training, and of course the tech & us.

At first the tech couldn't tell the gender. She said "We're looking for a turtle or 3 white lines." But there was a shadow in the way with how the little sour patch was squatting. But the tech was 80% sure it was a BOY.  As the time went on, she increased that to about 95% certainty. She found the turtle.

She let us take a video of the ultrasound. It was a dark room, so it isn't always a clear picture. It's almost 9 minutes long though. So if you have better things to do - here are a few highlights:

  • Heart beating - 0:10, 3:35
    • 158 beats per minute
  • Baby shaking - 0:43
    • The tech kept trying to get the baby to move by shaking it, she justified it as wiggling though
  • Thumb sucking - 5:37
  • Color coded umbilical cord - 6:36, 7:01
  • Melissa insulting our boy - 7:28
  • Turtle view - 8:00
  • Hiccups - 8:22

It's a Good Life

Happy Father's Day to Justin!  I honestly think he is the best husband and dad that I could ever ask for.  Did you know that when Channing wakes up randomly at night all I have to do it shake Justin awake and he'll go take care of it?  Yes, I am lucky.  Dinner was steak, asparagus, and bacon wrapped corn.  Mmmmm.  I love the new things Channing learns everyday.  The other day he saw me use an oven mitt and had to give it a try.   Yesterday I walked around the mall, shopped at Target, and got a strawberry limeade from Sonic.  It was fun.  But then Channing didn't want to take a second nap and was cranky all day.  Oh well.  At least half the day was awesome!  Yup, Channing still loves pouring water everywhere.  And sitting in it....

Merry Christmas

It was a white Christmas here in Meridian, Idaho.  On Christmas Eve we went to church for an hour and then came home and let Channing and Mckenzie each open one present.  We made peanut butter blossoms for Santa's cookies.  And we wrote letter's to Santa.  We also watched mormon messages about the birth of Christ.  For a few weeks the kids were earning pieces of straw to put in Jesus's manger.  Each good act or deed equaled a piece of straw placed in the manger.  Then on Christmas Eve we placed Jesus in the manger and talked about how all our acts of kindness created a nice, soft bed for baby Jesus to lay in.  It was a great visual for them.  (I got this idea from my Relief Society last year.) Making cookies. Mckenzie opened a book from the Crawford's.   Channing got a fort building kit from the Crawford's. Letter's the Santa.   These cute kids. Who knew Mckenzie wanted a puppy.... ...

Can't Wait To Be Done!

I'm really getting tired of school.  I'm almost done with my second to last semester of school.  Which means there is a lot of homework to finish in these next few weeks.  It seems that when I have homework to do I have a cleaner house because I'll usually clean before I decide to do homework.  I guess it's my way of procrastinating.  Other ways of procrastinating are: Checking on my garden to see what's growing.  Above is zucchini.  Buying a new bike! Making spinach and cheese quiche.  Playing peek a boo with Channing. Taking Channing to the park! It's been difficult to constantly have school in the back of my mind.  There's always some assignment I should be working on.  (I was just working on my physical assessment class and this blog post is my break.)  School has been great and I am grateful to be a RN.  I know school is important and I'm happy that I'll be done with my BSN in December!
