What nerd level am I?

It's not a far stretch for me to be classified as a nerd. But being a tech nerd isn't so bad. It has a lot of benefits: such as an excuse to buy gadgets. This last week Melissa asked why I get more toys than she does. haha. I didn't have a good answer for her, just told her to switch to a CIT major and she could have the toys too.

My most recent accomplishment is parting through the mess in our spare room to setup my desk (as school just started today!) I have 3 monitors setup (technically it's 2 laptops and one monitor.) And then at work I have dual monitors on my desk. So on any given day, I could be using 5 monitors to get my work & school done.

How much is too much? Well I think that depends on how nerdy you are? I'm not quite to the point that Weird Al sang about in White & Nerdy. I think at the very least 4 monitors on one desk is acceptable. I've been 4-eyed since I was a child, so I think that entitles me to 4 monitors minimum.
Unfortunately I'm limited by desk size. If we weren't renting, I'd be mounting the monitors to the wall! "Mounting my wiiindooooowwws to the WALL." I'm sure if I tried hard enough I could think of a few more lines to create a nerd parody of Get Low. And if it's good enough, I could get Sandra Bullock & Betty White to dance to it.

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

60 Things I Love About My Mom

In honor of my mom turning 60 years old on February 5th I have written 60 things that I love about her. 1. My mom lives the gospel. 2. She taught me how to follow the prophet. 3. My mom loves to travel. 4. With each baby I had she took the time to be there.  And then stayed for at least a week following the birth to help me at home.  She even brought be breakfast in bed. 5. My mom always fulfills her calling.  I remember when she was Relief Society President she was gone on my 15th birthday at an Enrichment meeting.  I was a bit peeved about it.  But now when I think about it I am inspired by her ability to 100% fulfill her calling and show up for her fellow RS sisters. 6. She taught me how to cook.  We always had a vegetable on the plate. 7. She thoroughly adores her grandkids. 8. My mom can do hard things. 9. My mom is a RN which is no easy job.  I know her job is often stressful.  She's an amazing labor and delivery nurs...
