Noteworthy News

I don't often read the news

But when I do, I do it from a satirical point of view:

1. It's often easy to look at the negative side of anything. A news article I read today gave me good reason to not let my kids have an Idaho education!
Summary:
An Idaho man was wanted for selling fake drugs. They identified that he worked at a Pest Control company so they setup a sting. On his way to the job the cops arrested him. He later got out of jail and didn't realize what had happened. He sent a text to the fake customer (an officer) apologizing for not making it to the appointment.
-My first reaction was to decide not to let my kids suffer through an Idaho education. But maybe I should instead consider - At least he was diligent! He wasn't going to let going to jail stop him from accomplishing his job. Guess he needs the money so he can continue to afford to make fake drugs that he sells. (Oops, that was negative again...)
-And if I was to base my child's education solely on the dumb individuals from the news - Wisconsin & Minnesota areas have plenty of examples stacked against them.

2. Ever wonder about some of the decisions that are made on Capitol Hill? Maybe you've considered that the elected officials were actually drunk while making that decision. Well that very well could be the case as this article points out.
Summary
At a campaign stop in Iowa President Obama told a crowd that the White House installed a brewery since he has been in office. They make both a light and dark beer. When an individual in the crowd asked to try it, a staff member was sent to the bus to get that individual a bottle...
47% of independent voters drank a beer in the last 30 days.
40% for Republicans
39% for Democrats
-I'm not sure what the open container laws are in every state, but I know in some you can get ticketed or arrested. How do you arrest the President? I think I remember that happening on an episode of 24 at some point. Maybe we need Jack Bauer to take down Obama. Maybe Romney isn't the guy. I'd vote for Jack Bauer.
-And who paid for the brewery? Probably anyone that has a taxable income (which includes most all jobs except prostitution and illegal drugs.) Shouldn't Obama buy his beer from the local community? Reinvest our tax dollars (his salary) back into the American economy!
-It is an interesting strategy to sway those independent voters. Relate to them on the grounds of alcohol. Wonder out of those percentages of people who have drank a beer in the last 30 days - how many of them will show up to the polls drunk and not have any idea of who they would vote for?
Being that Romney doesn't drink, how can he relate more to voters? Maybe the GOP should once again consider Jack Bauer as their candidate. He drinks and could relate to those independent voters.

It's a Good Life

Happy Father's Day to Justin!  I honestly think he is the best husband and dad that I could ever ask for.  Did you know that when Channing wakes up randomly at night all I have to do it shake Justin awake and he'll go take care of it?  Yes, I am lucky.  Dinner was steak, asparagus, and bacon wrapped corn.  Mmmmm.  I love the new things Channing learns everyday.  The other day he saw me use an oven mitt and had to give it a try.   Yesterday I walked around the mall, shopped at Target, and got a strawberry limeade from Sonic.  It was fun.  But then Channing didn't want to take a second nap and was cranky all day.  Oh well.  At least half the day was awesome!  Yup, Channing still loves pouring water everywhere.  And sitting in it....

Merry Christmas

It was a white Christmas here in Meridian, Idaho.  On Christmas Eve we went to church for an hour and then came home and let Channing and Mckenzie each open one present.  We made peanut butter blossoms for Santa's cookies.  And we wrote letter's to Santa.  We also watched mormon messages about the birth of Christ.  For a few weeks the kids were earning pieces of straw to put in Jesus's manger.  Each good act or deed equaled a piece of straw placed in the manger.  Then on Christmas Eve we placed Jesus in the manger and talked about how all our acts of kindness created a nice, soft bed for baby Jesus to lay in.  It was a great visual for them.  (I got this idea from my Relief Society last year.) Making cookies. Mckenzie opened a book from the Crawford's.   Channing got a fort building kit from the Crawford's. Letter's the Santa.   These cute kids. Who knew Mckenzie wanted a puppy.... ...

Our Thanksgiving

Days are flying by too fast and I cannot seem to keep this blog up to date.  We are already in the month of December!  November went by so fast.  I absolutely loved Thanksgiving with Jeff, Cortney, and Patrick staying at our house and my mom and dad visiting.  We ate some great food.  Cameron made a fantastic turkey in his smoker and all the sides were de-lish!  Some of my favorite moments were taking family pictures then going to chick fil-a for dinner.  Watching the new Spider Man movie with Jeff and Cortney.  Oh, and Jeff bought us all ben and jerry's, yup he's a good brother.  Shopping with my mom, sister, and sis-in-law.  Watching all the cousins play together.  My dad meeting Isaac for the first time.  Going out to breakfast with my mom and dad.  Channing's reaction to seeing Anna and Elsa characters at the Scentsy Commons Christmas lights--he's super bashful and his teenage years are going to be hilarious.  One...
