Cat strikes again

Melissa and I enjoy going on a walk - after all we don't have cable, what else is there to do? Also doctor orders are to walk a half hour each day while being pregnant.

Being that we now live in a new place, we have new opportunities to explore! And on our first walk together we decided to walk towards G's Dairy (local ice cream place)! We had only made it a few blocks when I hear this noise coming from a bush. It was a loud, dirty kitten meowing.

We briefly petted it with our fingertip before we decided we'd keep on walking and let it go back into it's bush. Nope. It followed us down the sidewalk. People in cars driving by gave us envious looks. "How did you train your cat to do anything other than lie around the house? That's awesome." At least that's what their eyes were saying.
We decided that it must be really hungry and that we'd take it back to our apartment to give it some quick nourishment before we dropped the cat off at our old neighborhood that has a lot of feral cats. In fact we've rescued one other kitten (a much less homely looking one) in that neighborhood. Our landlords ended up adopting it.

As I was carrying it back to our apartment it did just as Melissa predicted - it 'sharted' on me. Squirted right down my shirt. Oh you would've thought Melissa was at a comedy club with how hard she was laughing.

Well after attempting to feed/water it, it was time to take it on a drive to the cat neighborhood. There is a small hole in the fence at our last apartment. Most of the cats use that hole to squeeze into the back yard of our landlords when needed. We decided to shove the kitten through that hole, and put a piece of wood blocking that hole so it wouldn't come right back out.
Melissa moved like a pro in the cover of darkness. Even before turning onto our street she was able to spot people that might notice what we were doing. She dimmed the lights and waited them out. She even planned her escape route on our drive over. Her sneakiness is just one of many reasons why I love her!

Have you ever tried running (more like slow jogging) with a double stroller?  My suggestion is to avoid it...unless you're into pain and frustration. I'm a morning workout person.  And I'm not talking about waking up before my kids at 6am and getting in a workout--I'm not crazy.  I'm into doing my workout when it's convenient and I don't have to sacrifice too much.  For example I don't like to exercise when I:  Have to wake up earlier than normal.  Stay up later than normal. Be too cold/hot for a long period of time. Or listen to a kid cry/whine the whole time.     Right now I've chosen to walk/jog in the morning after breakfast and before Mckenzie's nap.  That way the morning goes by quickly and I get a workout in.  Justin and I signed up for a race here in Meridian and that's my workout motivation...hence the jogging with a stroller.  I'm pretty sure the double stroller ways at least 75lbs with the kids in it....

$$ for Jeeps

Well I've done it again - bought another Jeep. But this time it was Melissa pushing me to do it! (what a good wife!) It's a 99 Grand Cherokee Limited (we previously had a Laredo by the same year.) The people were originally asking $4200 but we Hamiltoned them down to $2800 thanks to Melissa. I was talking & negotiating with the husband. And then the wife comes out appalled that the husband was coming down so much in price. And she snapped and said she was firm on $3000. So Melissa stepped up and said "I wouldn't give more than $2800."  The tension was high as the 2 women shot dagger-eyes at each other. Neither one backing down. Finally the husband agreed. And we drove it home. Then 2 days later I decided to list our Cherokee for sale around midnight, by noon the next day (today) I had it sold. It's been a busy day. So in 2012 alone, I've now owned 4 different vehicles. Melissa is the hospital today. She is just starting her preceptorship in labo...

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.
