Nice Ascot

People often like to hear how others have met their significant other. Probably because the only other things to talk to young married couples about are school, work, or marital relations - 2 of which usually aren't exciting to talk about, and the 3rd isn't usually an open discussion topic [you decide which is which.] So people assume it's safe to ask newlyweds about their story of how they first met.
Quite often, that story has different versions - the wife's version & the correct version. Melissa and I are no different.
And thankfully for us, Pixar recreated a version of when Melissa and I first met: (names have been changed to protect identities though)

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a quick Halloween post so I won't ever forget how adorable Channing was.  He was a scarecrow this Halloween.  We used a pair of his overalls and I sewed on a few patches of material and then we stuffed his pockets with straw.  The paint on the nose thing didn't work so well...he rubbed it off the first time around.  Our ward did a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot.  Channing was a little skeptical about it all when we first started.  But he quickly got the hang of walking up to people, grabbing candy, and putting it in his bucket.  Someone gave him a sucker and he immediately had to have it!  At least he's easy to please!  Such a friendly scarecrow...had to say bye to the trick-or-treaters as they left.

My reality check

Remember how in my last few posts I talked about how we were teaching Channing to put himself back to sleep by letting him cry it out?  Since Channing has been sick for over a week that has all gone down the drain....  The poor kid is so congested all the time.  When we wakes up at night he usually will not take his binky and fall back asleep.  Instead he needs his nose suctioned, which usually requires Justin holding Channing's head still or it's impossible.  And lately he will not go back to sleep at all until he's fed again.  Last night it was every 3 hours.  I don't know if it's because his throat hurts or he just wants to be held.  Whatever the reason, nights have been a little rough around here.  Oh, and his naps during the day have been pretty bad.  Crying a lot before falling asleep and then only sleeping for 20 or 30 minutes.  Motherhood is definitely a 24/7 job.  With no lunch breaks.  And get this!  Channin...

It's a Good Life

Happy Father's Day to Justin!  I honestly think he is the best husband and dad that I could ever ask for.  Did you know that when Channing wakes up randomly at night all I have to do it shake Justin awake and he'll go take care of it?  Yes, I am lucky.  Dinner was steak, asparagus, and bacon wrapped corn.  Mmmmm.  I love the new things Channing learns everyday.  The other day he saw me use an oven mitt and had to give it a try.   Yesterday I walked around the mall, shopped at Target, and got a strawberry limeade from Sonic.  It was fun.  But then Channing didn't want to take a second nap and was cranky all day.  Oh well.  At least half the day was awesome!  Yup, Channing still loves pouring water everywhere.  And sitting in it....
